The demolition of unplanned construction at Ngaliema Bay in Kinshasa will begin between Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The announcement was made Sunday by Léon Mulumba, Provincial Minister of the Environment, Public Cleanliness, and City Beautification, during an operation that began at the Kintambo train station.
"We have already raided the site to demarcate the area. Between Wednesday and Thursday, we will begin the demolition," the minister stated.
This operation is expected to take place a few days earlier following a provincial government statement giving the occupants 48 hours to vacate the area.
Regarding the demolition in Kintambo, he indicated that this is an operation specific to the Onatra site. According to him, this area will be converted into a station for cars and motorcycles to relieve congestion in Kintambo, which is currently facing serious traffic problems.
