On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Kinshasa provincial government launched an operation to demolish illegal buildings at Kintambo Train Station, with the aim of freeing up public space and combating illegal parking.
This area, owned by the National Transportation Office (ONATRA), is currently being redeveloped to accommodate official stops for taxis, motorcycles, and buses circulating around the Magasin roundabout.
It should be recalled that the provincial government announced on April 22 its intention to demolish all illegal buildings erected on the Ngaliema Bay site within 48 hours. To everyone's surprise, however, the first demolitions have been observed in Kintambo.
According to the authorities, these operations are part of the gradual implementation of the program to clean up and combat the illegal occupation of public land.
Ultimately, Kintambo Station should also contribute to the revival of rail transport in Kinshasa.
